We are planning to add a community area and a children’s garden to the Community Garden.

Objectives of the expansion are:

• Provide additional services for current and future members
• Provide a focal point for future awareness of sustainable living for the community
• Provide educational activities for the locals via open days, school and scout group visits, university research, invitations to other community groups and other social/cultural activities
• Garden members to share their experience and knowledge to encourage organic home-growing of edibles
• Encourage and accommodate parents with young children who want to garden
• Promote interest in gardening for the future generations

The new community areas will include:

• Hot-house
  – to extend the growing season
  – allow propagation for seeds for fundraising
• Composting bay
  – to ensure all waste is reused within the garden
  – educate the community about composting
• Boundary fencing

The new children’s garden will include:

• Play area
• Cubby house
• Sandpit
• Activity table
